When Timing is Critical, Proper Disinfection Matters
When you are disinfecting and cleaning surfaces in aerospace, you want to make sure your efforts work the first time, every time. All hard surface disinfectants require a specific contact time to achieve a kill or log reduction for the specific bacteria, virus, fungus, or yeast on the surface. That time can range from 30 seconds to 10 minutes.
Why Effective Cleaning is Important
Surface removal:
Cleaning the surface before using quality surface sanitizing wipes will ensure that the material is ready for disinfection.
Contact Kill Time:
The layer of disinfectant applied to a surface by wiping or spraying must stay wet for the entire contact kill time to ensure the surface is properly disinfected. To do that, the thickness of that film must overcome the evaporation rate of the disinfectant.
Uniform Kill:
Disinfectants only kill the organisms that they come into contact with. If the surface does not have a uniform application of disinfectant, streaks of contaminates can regrow and recontaminate the entire surface within minutes.
